FET-40G Overview
The Cisco FET-40G QSFP module is a 40G transceiver designed specifically for use in fabric extender environments. It connects the fabric extender switch to the parent switch, supporting high bandwidth connectivity over parallel multimode fiber cabling.
The FET-40G supports link lengths of up to 100m on OM3 fiber and 150m on OM4/OM5 fiber. It can be used in native 40G mode over 12 strand fiber cables with MPO/MTP connectors. Alternatively, it supports 4x10G mode connectivity over parallel to duplex breakout cables, interoperating with 4x FET-10G interfaces.
With support for both 40G and 4x10G modes, low power consumption of 1.5W, and optimization for fabric extender applications, the Cisco FET-40G provides a flexible and efficient 40G optical interconnect solution.
