ASR1000-RP2 Overview
The Cisco ASR 1000 Series Route Processor 2 (ASR1000-RP2) is the routing and control plane processor for the ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. It manages and directs traffic flows on the platform and runs critical routing protocols and management functions.
The Cisco ASR1000-RP2 provides significantly higher performance compared to previous generation route processors, with greater memory, higher CPU core count, and faster system bus throughput. This enables support for larger routing tables, more complex policies, and overall platform scalability.
Designed for high availability networks, the Cisco ASR1000-RP2 has redundant capability and interoperability with other ASR 1000 route processors. It runs on the proven, modular Cisco IOS XE software architecture. It helps ensure investment protection.
