The Cisco Catalyst 9800-CL Wireless Controller (C9800-CL-K9) is purpose-built for intent-based networking. It integrates RF excellence of Cisco Aironet access points and runs on the Cisco IOS XE software platform. The controller supports centralized, FlexConnect, mesh, and fabric deployment modes in private or public cloud environments.
With its high scalability, the C9800-CL-K9 can support up to 6000 access points and 64,000 clients. It provides throughput up to 2.1 Gbps with the standard profile and up to 5 Gbps with SR-IOV enabled. The controller includes advanced security features like Encrypted Traffic Analytics, Wireless IPS, image signing, and runtime defenses.
The C9800-CL-K9 enables automation of wireless network operations through programmable REST APIs and streaming telemetry. It also provides redundancy for high availability with Stateful Switchover and N+1 redundancy for seamless failover between controllers.
